After 11 seasons, we had to make the very hard decision to cease operations at the end of 2021. We could not overcome losing an entire year to Covid in 2020 followed by fewer than normal bookings in 2021 and even less going into 2022 due to the uncertainty that continues.
It has been a wonderful journey, but like most journeys there is a beginning and an end. The beginning of the journey offers such hope, and if it has been a great trip, which this has been, the end of the journey is bittersweet.
We take comfort in knowing that we provided many great memories for many people, especially all the brides and grooms who allowed us to be part of their special day.
We will miss taking part in all the Peekskill parades like the Firemen’s 4th of July Parades, The Peekskill St. Patrick’s Day Parades and the Peekskill Juneteenth Parades.
We will miss the special events that we participated in around Westchester which made “Stella” a Goodwill Ambassador for the city of Peekskill, like the Mamaroneck Wine Trail, The New Rochelle Arts Council celebrations, the Irvington Historical Tours, and this year The Pelham Toonerville Trolley Music Festival to name a few.
The Peekskill Trolley North Pole Express tours became a holiday tradition for many families, and what I personally will miss most about those tours are the smiles and wide eyes on the children’s faces as they boarded “Stella” who was all aglow in holiday lights and decorations.
We, the Peekskill Trolley Company family want to thank everyone who ever worked with us, rode with us, waved at us or took pictures of us throughout our 11 year journey. We will miss you all.
